After the earth, sea, air and space, the war came in the fifth domain: cyberspace. In May, the Pentagon established a new Cyber Command (Cybercom), headed by General Keith Alexander, director of the National Security Agency (NSA). Barack Obama said the U.S. digital infrastructure is a national strategic asset and designates Howard Schmidt, former security chief at Microsoft, as the cybersecurity czar. How and by what rules, is secret. Its mandate is to conduct full spectrum operationsto to defend U.S. military networks and attack other countries.
